New Apiary at the Tryon International Equestrian Center

New Apiary at the Tryon International Equestrian Center

Sandy Bee Mine has opened a new apiary in partnership with the TIEC!

Sandy Bee Mine built out the apiary this month by installing a bear fence to protect our colonies. We are starting out small, with only 15 colonies currently in place. The plan is to grow that to approximately 35 before the spring 2021. Personally, I don't care to put more than 35 colonies in a single location. I find the sources for foraging (food) and the amount of work I can complete in a single visit as the limiting factors.

We really enjoy partnering with local establishments! You just may have the option of purchasing honey at the TIEC general store which was harvested from bees residing on the property! Now that is cool!
